Academic Background
Hannes completed his PhD degree at the North-West University. His Doctoral thesis, The Antecedents and Outcomes of Happiness of Managers in the Agricultural Sector in South Africa, reflects on the essential role of managing antecedents in the workplace to relate to organisational outcomes such as organisation citizenship behaviour, organisational commitment and turnover intention. However the mediating effect of three fundamental issues within each manager i.e. the needs for autonomy, relatedness and competence must be equally assessed and managed. His results were presented at the European Conference of Positive Psychology in Moscow in 2012 as well as the International Conference of Psychology in Cape Town in 2012.
Three publications had thus followed from this research i.e. Authentic happiness of managers, and individual and organisational outcomes, Subjective Well-being of Managers : The Effects of Psychological Need Satisfaction and Manager relations, psychological need satisfaction and intention to leave.
